FAFSA And Transferring To A New College
Q: If I have decided to transfer to a new college, but have already filed my FAFSA with the information for my current college, will my FAFSA money automatically transfer with me to my new college?
A: FAFSA will not automatically transfer a student’s financial aid to a new or different school. Students financial aid eligibility is calculated on a number of different factors, including factors that are specific to the school a student is attending. While some types of financial aid, such as Federal Stafford Loans, are typically transferable from one school to another, other types of financial aid, such as Federal Work-Study, certain state-based grants, campus-based aid, and Federal Perkins Loans, are often not transferable to another school.
When a student transfers to a new school, that school will need to recalculate the students financial aid eligibility. Since each schools cost of attendance, available financial aid funds, and financial aid criteria/policies are different, the student may not qualify for the same types of financial aid, or receive the same amounts from each type of financial as they did at their previous school. For students who are transferring schools, you will need to contact the financial aid office at your current school and inform them of your intended transfer to the new college or university. Your current schools financial aid department will be able to inform you about any money currently owed, or any federal student aid refund you may be eligible for. Next, students will want to login to fafsa.ed.gov and add their new schools information. This will allow the new school to have access to the students federal financial aid information. Your new school should then send you a Student Aid Report within a few weeks, detailing what federal financial aid programs you qualify for and what amounts you are eligible for at the new college or university. For any questions regarding financial aid at the new college or university, contact that college or university’s financial aid office.

National Merit Scholarship

National Merit Scholarship Program, administered by a not-for-profit, privately funded organization National Merit Scholarship Corporation, was started in 1955. But getting this scholarship is not easy as it involves a series of steps. Any college bound student must appear for the preliminary SAT, also called National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), which acts as a screening test. It is attempted by more than million juniors from high school out of which top 50000 students are given recognition and their schools are notified. They are given a chance to choose two colleges they would like to pursue and NMSC sends their scores to the respective colleges. Then these students are notified by the colleges whether they have qualified as a ‘semi finalist’ or are ‘commended’. Commended students cannot compete for National Merit Scholarship but receive Letters of Commendation for their promising outstanding academics. Some of these students qualify for Special Scholarships which are sponsored by businesses and corporate. Around 16000 semifinalists are notified out of the top 50000 scorers out of which around 15000 reach the final stage. Based on their academics, skills, performance, talent, accomplishments, abilities and essay written by the person, around 8200 final merit winners are chosen from the group of finalists. Federal PLUS Loan

Borrowers must finish the Master Promissory Note (MPN) to initiate the loan application procedure. The credit check will be conducted in next step and applicant receives his confirmation after meeting the credit guidelines. If the loan is approved, then the borrowers can receive the fund which is entire cost of attendance minus other form of financial aid student already has received. In order to get eligible for Federal PLUS loan, borrower must be biological or step-parent or adoptive parent of student. The child should be dependent on his parent and he should finish half of the school course from the institute which is included in direct loan program. Parents who are applying for the loan must have sound credit history to become eligible. If the parents are not able to pass the credit test, then they can be eligible for loan only if their relative or friend endorses the loan. The parents and students involved in Federal PLUS loan must be US citizens. They must not be part of defaulters list of federal education loan. In order to process your loan, the Department of Education of US will charge loan origination fee of around 4%. The borrowers of direct loan may avail a rebate of 1.5% and reduction in upfront charges up to 2.5%. Borrowers have to make their initial 12 payments on time to avail the loan benefit properly. Loan fee is reduced in equivalent proportion from every installment of borrower’s Federal PLUS loan. Stafford Loan – Federal Loan for Education
 A Stafford Loan helps students with their tuition fees and other educational expenses. This loan was previously known as Federal Guaranteed Student loan but in 1988 it was named in honor of U.S. Senator Robert Stafford as Stafford Student Loan Program. Popularly known a Stafford Loan, it provides loans to undergraduate, graduate or professional students at a fixed, low rate of interest. They can be obtained from credit union, bank or from the government and are regulated by federal government. They can be classified as– • Subsidized Stafford Loans – In a subsidized Stafford loan, while the student is in school the interest is paid by the government. Even during the authorized deferment period and during the grace period, the interest is paid by government. The student needs to be enrolled in a school for atleast half time (6 credit hours) and if he drops out of school then he becomes responsible for the monthly repayment. • Unsubsidized Stafford Loans – In an unsubsidized loan, government does not pay the interest and entire repayment is done by the borrower. To become eligible for a Stafford Loan, whether subsidized or unsubsidized, the person must submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application. The student must also be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course atleast on a half-time basis. The type of loan for which a person qualifies depends on his financial/dependency status and EFC (Expected Family Contribution). Interest rate is fixed for Stafford Loan and is 3.4% for subsidized loans and 6.8% for unsubsidized. Repayment of Stafford Loan begins after a grace period of six months after graduation or termination of the study program (whichever is first). There is no need for credit approval and can be consolidated later. But Stafford loan follows increasing borrowing limits and one cannot access the entire loan amount at once. Depending on the status of the degree and how far person is in school (number of years) a person can access the loan for example, undergraduates can take an amount of $5500 in first year,$6500 in second and $7500 each year until they reach $31000. Federal Perkins loan
 Federal Perkins Loan is designed by the American Department of Education to help college students of US in financing their education. The loan plan is named after one of the former member of US House of Representative, Carl D. Perkins. Perkins loan offers maximum amount of $60,000 for graduate students and $27,500 for undergraduate students. Interest rates of Federal Perkins loan are capped at 5 percent for the repayment period of ten years and an undergraduate student can only borrow maximum $5,500 of loan per year. The amount of loan a candidate is eligible for actually depends on his financial need, amount of financial aid taken before and fund availability at school. ASEE Vestibular 2010
The selection is made through a written examination ASEE. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for the written test were invited to take the April 18, 2010.
These courses of beneficiaries and the seats will be notified by e-mail. If the candidates to ensure the same notes at ASEE 2010, the selection will be based on their academic careers.
Written test will be held in Dehradun cities namely Kanpur, Kolkata and Hardoi (UP). Each applicant must indicate their preference for the center of the application.
No TA / DA will be paid to the candidates to take the test under any circumstances. Applicants will be displayed in the qualifying examination can also apply.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate for the modeling of molecular self-assembly with innovative techniques. This ambitious research project must work together to develop ideas for the study of complex systems using techniques of classical molecular modeling.
Candidates preferably have an MSc in Chemistry Education, physics and materials science and in computer science, complexity and inter-disciplinary scientific interest (BSc high-level candidates) are considered. Have experience in computer programming and molecular modeling (Monte Carlo or molecular dynamics) is desirable.

SCHOLARSHIPS Australia: Postgraduate Scholarship on International Migration and Social Transformation, University of Sydney
Professor Stephen Castles, Canada Research Chair in Sociology, is up to four outstanding dissertation of us connected to 2 semesters behavior in 2010, with the research project funded by the CRA "Social Transformation and International Migration in the 21st century. " This project will be reviewed five years of theoretical and methodological research on international migration.
The project: The project's starting point is the assumption that the mobility of people is a normal part of social life. In times of rapid change in international migration tends to grow in volume and shape of a factor more important for the company. Migration is not only the result of changes, nor a cause of change, but an integral part of the process of social transformation. This project is interdisciplinary, exploring the relationships between different socio-spatial designed. global factors, such as different effects in different types of radar because they mediated by local and national historical experiences and cultural models. An interdisciplinary approach, the findings of links between micro-level research in sociology, anthropology and cultural studies at the macro-level over the economy, politics, economics, law and geography. The project has three phases:
1.Theoretical and conceptual work on understanding the relationship between migration and social transformation to improve
2.Fieldwork strongly influenced areas of the social transformation of two and Migration: Mexico and Ghana, most regions of origin of immigrants, primarily South Korea and Australia as a destination region

Successful applicants will be expected in the theoretical and methodological work of the project and participate in at least one case study. Postdoctoral fellowships in instrumentation and origins of stars
The infrastructures completely allocated to the Laboratory includes a data processing center with 160 cores and 100TB of disk, an optical instrument control interferometer, vacuum and cryogenic facilities.
We seek postdoctoral fellows to strengthen our activities. The fellows are expected to integrate in the team, with large research liberty, international collaborations being strongly supported. The recruiting priorities are.

walmart scholarship AGA Educational Development Fellowship,Australia
The Fellowship is made available jointly by the Australian German Association and the Goethe-Institut, offering young Australians a 12-week stay in Germany. This comprises an 8-week language course at a Goethe-Institute in Germany, as well as a grant of AUD 6 000.00 towards a 4-week study tour in Germany, visiting companies/institutions in the special interest field of the Awardee. The airfare to and from Germany is also included. The scholarship is advertised between February and May each year.

Isobel Bennett Marine Biology Fellowship,Australia,Fellowship
The Isobel Bennett Marine Biology Fellowship is named in recognition of the late Dr Isobel Bennett who was one of Australia’s eminent marine biologists. The Hermon Slade Raiatea Foundation has provided funding to the Lizard Island Reef Research Foundation (LIRRF) to enable this fellowship.
Benefits
The maximum value of each 2011 fellowship is AU$11,000, payable in April 2011 and to be spent within one year. For successful applicants who are employed at Australian institutions and who can thus provide Australian tax invoices, the payments will be $11,000 plus $1,100 GST.
Conditions of Award
* Fellowship funds are intended to contribute towards the costs involved in conducting field work at Lizard Island Research Station. Salary and equipment (other than consumables) are not covered by the Fellowships.
* Expenditure of Fellowship funds is restricted to:
o Bench fees at Lizard Island Research Station for the fellow and up to two assistants at the current applicable rates. Bench fees must be paid from a different source for any accompanying postgraduate students who are working on their own projects.
o The John and Laurine Proud Fellowship and the Yulgilbar Fellowship allow for economy class travel between the fellow’s home institution andLizard Island, for one trip only.
o The Isobel Bennett Marine Biology Fellowship allows applicants who are based at an Australian institution to claim for travel between that location and Lizard Island via Cairns but overseas applicants may claim only for travel between Cairns and Lizard Island. Project
The successful candidate will be working on developing optimum process and compounding of composites of natural fibres with possibility of biodegradation and recycling. The project would involve a multiobjective optimisation as the aims would be to reduce the carbon footprint and also to obtain best quality green composite. The quality of the manufactured composite would be checked for the standards required for the application in automotive and sustainable developments.

PhD Postdoc position in Molecular Biology Biochem 2012 at Univ of Bern
Description Our vision is to assess the structure, supramolecular organization and dynamics of membrane transport proteins by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray crystallography (XRC). To this end, we clone, over-express, purify and crystallize transport proteins in 2- (2D) and 3-dimensions (3D). 2D crystals are analyzed by TEM/electron crystallography and AFM, while 3D crystals by XRC. Tasks of the successful candidates will involve cloning, over-expression and purification of pro- and eukaryotic membrane transport proteins for functional and structural studies.
Our work is part of the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) TransCure From transport physiology to identification of therapeutic targets. Required qualifications The Postdoc / Ph.D. candidate should have a Ph.D. / Master degree in molecular biology or biochemistry. Experience with the over-expression in bacteria and yeast, and with the biochemistry of membrane proteins is compulsory.

Advancing Africa Scholarship Fund at Brown University
The Advancing Africa Scholarship Fund provides that:
- recipients shall be known as Advancing Africa Scholars;
- recipients will be asked to sign a pledge to return to full-time residency in Africa for a period of at least two years upon completion of undergraduate studies Brown or, if they have an opportunity to continue their studies, to return upon completion of a graduate degree;
- during their undergraduate studies at Brown, recipients shall be entitled to two return trips paid through the Fund;
- upon their return to Africa, recipients will be given an appropriate monthly stipend for two years to ensure a higher standard of living and to ease their transition. If the resident shall cease to be a full-time resident of Africa within the two year period, this stipend will terminate.

PhD Walmart Scholarship Studentships at Bloomsbury Colleges in UK
Recently a new mechanism of disease has been identified in the congenital (autosomal recessive) muscular dystrophies that are due to a defect in the glycosylation of alpha dystroglycan. These forms of muscular dystrophy are now known collectively as the dystroglycanopathies. To date mutations in six genes encoding either known or putative glycosyltransferases have been associated with this group of diseases. However, the one most frequently associated with mutations in the Caucasian population is fukutin related protein or FKRP (in Denmark the heterozygote frequency is 1:200).
The candidate will have an interest in the pathogenesis of human neuromuscular disease and protein structure. The project will be based at the Royal Veterinary College where training in muscle pathology will be given. Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and Synchrotron Radiation Circular Dichroism (SRCD) will be undertaken under the supervision of Professor Bonnie Wallace at Birkbeck College who has a particular interest in these techniques and how they may be used to facilitate translational research. This project therefore represents a unique opportunity to combine cellular and biophysical approaches to assess the role of FKRP structure in the pathogenesis of muscular dystrophy.

PhD Walmart Scholarship Studentship Appraising the Impact of Nigeria’s Local Content Policy
The full-time studentship, which includes an element for teaching will be for 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress. Starting bursary will be £20,000 pa plus student fees.
Over $8 billion is spent annually servicing the Nigeria Oil and Gas industry and this figure is projected to hit $15 billion within the next few years. Despite this, only a very little proportion of the accruable profit is spent in Nigeria since the majority of it is repatriated abroad. The major reason for this situation is the low Local Content in the Nigerian oil industry. To address this anomaly the Federal Government of Nigeria in the early 2000s introduced the oil and gas industry Local Content Policy. The policy was aimed at transforming the industry through the development of in-country capacity and indigenous capabilities in the area of manpower development, facilities and infrastructure towards ensuring that a higher representation of local indigenous companies participate actively in the industry. Over the past few years there have been mixed reports among industry regulators and other stakeholders, as to how successful the Local Content policy has been in meeting its aims and policy objectives. PhD proposals are invited to appraise the efficacy of Nigeria's local content policy to adding value to the national economy, in terms of job creation, the development of local infrastructure, the development of small and medium-sized service companies and the utilisation of local input and human resources. The proposal may also be quite specific in terms of examining, for example, the particular impact of the policy on the residents of the Niger Delta area. Potential for good data access through a network of existing/established contacts by the candidate would be an advantage. Proven analytical skills in the processing of qualitative and/or quantitative data, and experience with associated software packages (e.g., EViews, Stata, Nvivo) for such purposes would also be an advantage.

Applicants should have a good Honours degree and in addition a good Master's degree at merit level and above that includes a thesis component in economics, international business or a closely related discipline. Some experience of data processing, including qualitative data, econometric estimation (e.g., regression analysis), and familiarity with standard data processing packages (such as Stata, EViews or, for qualitative data analysis, Nvivo) would be a considerable advantage. The successful candidate will also require a high degree of computer literacy.
Applicants will produce a research proposal of not more than 2,000 words that outlines and justifies the proposed research question, identifies any additional data requirements and details the proposed work programme.

FitzPatrick Family Doctoral Scholarship in Criminology, Criminal Justice , Penology
UCD Institute of Criminology, part of UCD’s School of Law, is pleased to offer one doctoral scholarship in the area of criminology/ criminal justice / penology. Applications are sought from exceptional graduates for a scholarship to undertake on a full-time basis a four year funded PhD programme of research in the fields of criminology, criminal justice, or penology. The scholarship is being generously funded by the FitzPatrick Family Foundation. It is available to candidates commencing their studies in September 2011 and is tenable for a maximum of four years, renewable each year subject to satisfactory progress.
In addition the payment of fees there is an annual stipend of €16,000 per annum (plus a €500 conference attendance allowance) and is open to Irish, EU and International applicants. In the case of non EU applicants any offer is conditional on the applicant demonstrating at the time of accepting the offer that s/he has sufficient funds to supplement the living allowance to cover the cost of living in Dublin. The University Graduate School is pleased to announce that there are ten PhD scholarships elite has for the academic year 2011-2012. Scholarships are for overseas candidates of the highest academic skills needed to provide a place offered to a PhD at Birmingham University from October 2011 study. Applicants from Colleges of Art and Law, life and environmental sciences, medicine, dentistry and social sciences are eligible to be considered for these awards. A successful candidate is generally higher in the cohort of students. Profile of the candidate marked copies (corresponding to the first class not a high mark in Class III or equivalent below).
